Mazda Confirms Zoomier and More Stylish CX-4 Crossover
It’s so very, very close to a station wagon, this Mazda CX-4. At least, that’s what we expect when this low-slung, more seductively styled Mazda crossover is fully revealed at the 2016 Beijing auto show. That’s because the CX-4 is modeled after last year’s Koeru concept, which wowed in its saucy pseudo sports wagon duds at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
We’re hoping the CX-4 turns out to be as wagonlike as Mazda’s CEO describes it. The U.S. market was offered the Mazda 6 wagon from 2004 to 2007, but Mazda hasn’t sent us any examples of the breed since—and we miss us some Mazda wagon goodness. According to Automotive News, our lust for a new Mazda wagon might need to simmer a while longer: A Japanese Mazda representative told that outlet that the CX-4 will be sold only in China, at least initially. Plans for other markets are still being ironed out.
